Fanvertise.com owes a huge debt of gratitude to the free and open source software community. Seriously. This would NEVER have been possible without you all, and we're going to specifically name-and-blame you for the great work you created off of which we built. In some places on the site, you can see links back to original sites, content, authors, coders, artists, and companies, but I want to specifically thank you all here. I've never met any of you, but you're AWESOME!  Thanks to the WordPress folks who provide a Terms Of Service agreement not only for their site, but for anyone who needs a thoroughly-lawyered TOS under the Creative Commons license. I took their TOS and modified it to reflect the needs of Fanvertise, but am grateful for the template.

Though I write my HTML and CSS hardcore, I mocked up the site using a great WYSIWYG HTML editor called Kompozer (also available in the *Buntu repositories ;-). The project head is named Fabien Cazenave (he goes by Kaze). He does wonderful work! Merci bien, Fabien! Once I was done with the WYSIWYG part of creation, I used Kate for CSS, PHP, HTML, and XML editing. Its syntax highlighting and windowed+tabbed design for editing multiple files at once meant that I could edit several pages and templates in differing formats at the same time with total ease. Kate is available both in the *Buntu repositories and comes as part of a Kubuntu install. Thank you very much to the Kate team: Anders Lund, Christoph Cullman, Joseph Wenninger, Hamish Rodda, and Dominik Haumann.

Speaking of Ubuntu, I want to thank them for making their Forum Users Code of Conduct available to chop up and spit out in a Fanvertise clone. I added my own humor, so feel free to NOT blame the Ubuntu folks for my concept of funny. In addition, the Ubuntu community at the Ubuntu Forums are some of the most courteous, helpful, knowledgeable people I've ever interacted with online (and as I'm a Java coder, I can tell you that some online communities full of programmers can get VERY impatient with improperly stated questions--not that *I've* ever snapped "RT*M n00b" at anyone before ;-). I use Kubuntu (a graphic-intensive flavor of Ubuntu which is VERY pretty and full of nifty things to see and click on), and I'd recommend it heartily to anyone considering Linux.

Fanvertise is built on Drupal. Feel free to donate to Drupal if you enjoy the functionality of Fanvertise; we owe them a lot!

Fanvertise.com is thrilled to be part of the ongoing tradition of FOSS creativity, generosity, and community.
